RODIO

Rhodium

What is Rhodium?

Rhodium is a precious metal from the platinum family, known for its high lustre, corrosion resistance and rarity. It is the most expensive natural metal in the world, with a price that can be ten times higher than gold. Rhodium´s high value comes from its excarsity and unique properties, being used only for insdustrial purposes and jewellery.

For what purpose is Rhodium plating used in jewellery?

Rhodium plating is a premium coating that involves applying a layer of rhodium over the jewellery through an electroplating process. This procedure improves the appearance and durability of the pieces.

Uses and benefits:

  1. Colour and lustre: provides a flawless, silver-colored polished finish that enhances the luxury of jewellery, especially in white gold and silver.
  2. Protection: it acts as a barrier against scratches, stains, wear, and extreme temperatures, prolonging the durability of the jewels.
  3. Prevents tarnishing: protects silver jewellery against blackening.
  4. Hypoallergenic: reduces the risk of allergies, being ideal for sensitive skins.
  5. Aesthetic repair: restores lustre and conceals scratches on worn parts.

Plating durability

The plating is tough but not permanent. Its durability depends on the use of the jewel and the care given to it.

Basic cares

  • Avoid contact with chemicals, perfumes or salt water.
  • Store jewelry separately to avoid friction.
  • Clean with a soft cloth without abrasive products.
